7 quotes to inspire your week! – BIG MAGIC

7 quotes to inspire your week! – BIG MAGIC

“The universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, and then stands back to see if we can find them. The hunt to uncover those jewels–that’s creative living. The courage to go on that hunt in the first place–that’s what separates a mundane existence from a more enchanted one. The often surprising results of that hunt–that’s what I call Big Magic.” -Elizabeth Gilbert

“No, when I refer to ‘creative living,’ I am speaking more broadly. I’m talking about living a life that is driven more strongly by curiosity than by fear.” -Elizabeth Gilbert

“To put the story in perspective, consider this fact: The earliest evidence of recognizable human art is forty thousand years old. The earliest evidence of human agriculture, by contrast, is only ten thousand years old. Which means that somewhere in our collective evolutionary story, we decided it was way more important to make attractive, superfluous items than it was to learn how to regularly feed ourselves.” -Elizabeth Gilbert

“If you’re alive, you’re a creative person. You and I and everyone you know are descended from tens of thousands of years of makers. Decorators, tinkerers, storytellers, dancers, explorers, fiddlers, drummers, builders, growers, problem solvers, and embellishers–these are our common ancestors.” -Elizabeth Gilbert

“We must understand that the drive for perfectionism is a corrosive waste of time, because nothing is ever beyond criticism. No matter how many hours you spend attempting to render something flawless, somebody will always be able to find fault with it.” -Elizabeth Gilbert

“Don’t rush through the experiences and circumstances that have the most capacity to transform you.” -Pastor Rob Bell

“Mind you, hard work guarantees nothing in realms of creativity. (Nothing guarantees anything in realms of creativity.) But I cannot help but think that devotional discipline is the best approach. Do what you love to do, and do it with both seriousness and lightness. At least then you will know that you have tried and that–whatever the outcome–you have traveled a noble path.” -Elizabeth Gilbert

This book stole my heart from the moment I began reading it–I couldn’t put it down. Elizabeth Gilbert puts words to the creative process that I’d only felt in my own heart. Thoughts and feelings I could’ve never expressed as beautifully as she did, and I’m grateful for her ability to do so.

Whether you fancy yourself a “creative person” or not, I truly believe this book can inspire anyone to live a more vibrant and expressive life–no matter their occupation, interests, or hobbies.

Have an amazing week!

There are so many fun trends this spring, so it’s always nice to find a simple, comfortable, and transitional outfit that incorporates a few of them at once!

* Lingerie top (zara)

* Cropped/high-waisted/straight leg denim with raw hem (tularosa)

* Gladiator sandals (dolce vita)

This outfit would be great to wear to brunch with your girls, or running errands around town–you could pretty much wear it anywhere! Throw on a leather jacket, some black heels, and a smokey eye, and this look transitions right into evening! If you’re working on a capsule wardrobe, these versatile pieces would make a great addition.

Mix and match your jewelry any which way you’d like. I kept it simple for this look, but you don’t have to! Statement necklace? Absolutely! Hoop earrings? Yes please!

I love simple, effortless outfits–they are always my go-to choice. And if I can find pieces that take me right into my evening plans, then even better! I’ll just throw some heels in my car that morning and I’ll be good to go!

What inspires your spring style?

Have an amazing day!
